While many innovative solutions (e.g. small RNAs, peptides) work in vitro, their effectiveness in the field or in animals is often hampered by their instability and/or inability to reach the targeted cells, in which they should be delivered. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are natural particles. They play a critical role in intercellular communication within living organisms, and can therefore compensate for the weaknesses of technologies that have already been tried and tested, with unsatisfied efficacy.
